Process for Designation

​

This is a self-paced process determined by the applicant and mentoring RCO team. Disclaimer: Because of pending discussions with Faces and Voices, some of the trainings may be changed.

Initial Steps:

  • Complete the attached application and submit it to the Alliance Administrator

  • Complete an initial site visit by staff

  • Be assigned a mentoring team of an existing RCO executive director and peer supervisor

Emerging RCO

  • Attend training:

  • Non-profit startup and management

  • SAM and Grants.gov registration

  • Board governance

  • Development of client handbook

  • Develop code of ethics and grievance policies

  • Needs assessment

  • Asset mapping

  • Data collection and reporting      

  • Develop a board of directors which includes 50% or more of people with lived experience

  • Develop mission and vision statement, staffing plan, service delivery plan, and begin providing services open to all pathways to recovery

  • Can start with one peer specialist who will be supervised by the mentoring supervisor

Intermediate RCO

  • Attend training:

    • Strategic planning

    • Sustainability planning

    • Event planning to raise awareness

    • Grant research and writing

  • Develop process for gaining input from people with lived experience

  • Develop strategic plan, communication and community awareness plan and sustainability plan

  • Expand services by adding additional services and increasing number of peers served

  • Develop community partnerships

  • Should have one to two peer specialists who will be supervised by the mentoring peer supervisor

Designated RCO

  • Has a demonstrated history in recovery service business

  • Has a system of community resources

  • Provides services in a variety of settings including specialty modalities

  • Must have two or more peer specialists, a paid peer supervisor, and may have other support staff as possible

  • Has a working sustainability plan and strategic plan reviewed annually

  • Offers multiple types of peer support services and assistance in non-clinical manners

  • Aligns fully with the national standards and implements all of them

  • Collaborates with other community partners, organizations, and demonstrates sustained services, impacts, and growth

Benefits of Alliance Membership

Alliance members are recognized as a designated recovery-centered organization. This designation provides the following benefits:

  • Helps the emerging RCO’s develop capacity and knowledge of processes, policies, and procedures to provide consistent and best practice services while planning strategically for sustainable operation and growth that benefits the recovery community in a manner that meets the needs of the service area.

  • Joining a statewide network of recovery organizations provides support, connection to resources, sharing knowledge and experience that helps to develop programming and sets standards for consistent and quality services.

  • Access to staff and mentors for technical assistance and grant research

  • Possibility of join grant applications and funding distribution

  • Helps assure fidelity and accountability by establishing a framework of community-based processes and a series of principles and processes defining RCOs that have proven to be effective and make them agents of long-term change for individuals. By adhering to the national standards established through Faces and Voices of Recovery and the Arkansas Peer Services Model, RCOs serve as a major component in the continuum of care.
